Gillian Risebury Joins the 1st Phorm Team!

4 min read

Hi there and thanks for tuning in to my blog! It is an honor to be a part of the 1st Phorm team! If you haven’t tried their products yet, let me tell you, they are hands down the best supplements on the market today. It is my pleasure to represent a quality brand that is leading the industry in high quality sports nutrition supplements!

I have started this blog to talk about my fitness endeavors and to discuss performance nutrition, weight loss and women’s fitness. Let me back up a minute and introduce myself. My name is Gillian Risebury and I am an NPC bikini competitor, a mother and a registered nurse. I have been involved in fitness in one-way or another my entire life. I was a cheerleader throughout high school and I went on to become a pro dancer for the Canadian Football League. After I hung up my pom poms, I was looking for another avenue for my love of performing and fitness competitions seemed like a perfect fit! I can remember picking up my very first bodybuilding magazine and being fascinated by the beautiful muscles displayed on the pages of the magazine—I wanted to look that way, too. I knew I wouldn’t achieve that kind of physique with my regime of dance, yoga and jogging! I copied one of the workouts from the magazine and after completing it I was hooked! I also began to learn about the importance of proper nutrition in order to see results from my new fitness program. I learned all about whey protein, lean meat, complex carbs and healthy fats. It took a while for me to get the courage to enter my first fitness competition, but since my first show in 2005, I have never looked back! I have been competing in fitness, figure and bikini since then and in August of this year, I won first place in my height class at the IFBB North American championships!

I think it’s important to mention that prior to this big win, I lost 65 pounds of pregnancy weight after my son Brady was born in February of 2008. Believe me, I never believed I would fit in a bikini again! I can speak volumes about the power of clean eating and training in achieving a bikini body! People always ask me “what is your secret to getting in such great shape?” I think some people must assume that there is some super power that I possess that they do not. I tell them that my “secret” is CONSISTENCY. Have you ever watched infomercials for popular weight loss programs or exercise DVD’s and seen all the amazing transformations that they advertise? You know those infomercials that show men and women displaying their before and after photos and telling how this amazing program miraculously changed their life. There is hardly any difference from one program to another…the secret to their success is CONSISTENCY. The people in those infomercials had success because they followed a program CONSISTENLY. If you follow a clean diet consistently and train hard consistently, you will see positive results…just like if you consistently sit on the couch and consistently eat chips and drink beer, you will see, well, negative results!!!

If you follow along with my blog, I will share with you fitness tips and delicious healthy recipes that have made me successful in winning the war against fat! In this edition, I am going to share with you my awesome recipe for 1st Phorm Oatmeal Raisin Cookies using the Level-1 Vanilla Cream protein. As a female athlete, I love 1st Phorm Level-1 protein. It is an easily digestible protein, which means no belly bloat ladies! If you haven’t tried Level-1 yet, you are in for a real treat! It is an absolutely delicious protein that is low in calories and makes a meal replacement or anytime snack! The following recipe for these 1st Phorm cookies is super easy to make and is a great breakfast, pre-workout meal or snack. Whip up a batch for your next office potluck and I swear your co-workers will have no clue they are eating “clean” cookies! Kids love them too! My toddler loves to eat these every morning for breakfast!

1st Phorm Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

½ cup of oats
¾ scoop Level 1 Vanilla Cream protein
2 packets of Splenda
1 small snack size box of raisins
3 dashes of cinnamon
2 large egg whites
1 large egg

Mix all the dry ingredients together and then mix in the eggs. Heat the oven to 325 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with vegetable oil cooking spray and spoon the mixture onto the cookie sheet (about 4 cookies). Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

*I usually make a double batch for my hubby (1st Phorm athlete Brett Becker) since he is a big guy and eats triple the carbs I do every day! You can also make these with 2 tbsp melted peanut butter for Oatmeal PB cookies—these don’t stay on the plate for long at our house!!

Thanks for tuning in to my blog. It’s a gorgeous day here in the Midwest—likely one of the last we will see before the cold winter weather hits! I’m taking my son out in the stroller for one of our runs around some of the hills in our neighborhood (great for the glutes)!

Eat clean and train hard everyone…because there is nothing sexier than a fit body!
☺ Gillian
